MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN: FRANK & FAITH

FRANK adj Open, honest, and sincere about where their fashion is made

FAITH noun To keep the faith, a strong belief that socially conscious clothing is possible

As part of our MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN series we bring you Frank & Faith... Based in Dorset the company is committed to using organic, recycled, or sustainable yarns and fabrics and preserving the textile manufacturing heritage of our fair isle.

This season we've selected a range of knitwear made from 100% bamboo. This eco fibre has a smooth silky handle ideal for the beautifully draped styles designed by Frank & Faith. From our point of view this is an ideal range: modern, ethically made, environmentally sound, and well priced. To see the collection visit us in store or view on line...

organic fortnight 5-20 september 2009...

The World Health Organisation attributes 20,000 deaths and 3,000,000 chronic health problems each year to the use of agricultural pestcides in developing countries. Much of this is attributed to cotton production.

As more and more pesticides are used the fertility of the soil is compromised encouraging farmers to use more chemical fertilisers which in many cases forces them into debt.

Once harvested cotton goes through a series of processes including washing, bleaching, dyeing and printing to make a tee shirt or pair of jeans. At least 8,000 chemicals are used which are classified as "hazardous" by WHO.

The California Cotton Ginners & Growers Association estimates that one pair of jeans requires 987 gallons of water in production.

Startling information and this has not even addressed the ethics of cotton production and garment manufacture.

At least you have an alternative...organic cotton.

Our organic cotton tee-shirts are certified organic cotton which ensures a sustainable and profitable life for our producers. Reduced pesticides, azo-free dyes, waste water management all ensure the t-shirts are safer for you and better for our environment. And if that's not enough, our Potassium tee was awarded best t-shirt in 101 Things To Buy Before You Die in both the UK and USA editions beating some of the bigger brand names out there.

To celebrate Organic Forthnight, until 20/9/09 the Potassium Organic Cotton Tee is £7.99(regular £12.95) and all Kuyichi Organic Cotton Denim has 20% off. Offer is available in store and on line...potassium organic cotton men’s and women’s tees.
